Kapiti community stunned by two recent deaths

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Crime News | Sunday September 16 2012 7:38

The Kapiti Coast community has been left shocked by the killings of two young men in just a month.

20-year-old Sean Strongman-Lintern was stabbed to death during a fight in a Paraparaumu carpark early yesterday.

A 22-year-old has been charged with murder.

It comes just a month after 17-year-old Izak Millanta was killed in a fight at the nearby Coastlands Shopping Centre carpark.

Police don't believe the two deaths are linked, but Kapiti Mayor Jenny Rowan says it's a double tragedy.

She says she's acutely aware more needs to be done about alcohol-related incidents not just in Kapiti, but across the country.

Ms Rowan says the Council, police and local iwi will continue to work on the problem.
