Akshay Chand police confession revealed

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Crime News | Saturday October 20 2012 11:26

The confession Christie Marceau's killer gave to police has been revealed.

Akshay Chand was found not guilty of murdering the Auckland teenager by reason of insanity this week - but he's never denied stabbing her to death at her North Shore home while on bail.

He told police he woke up about 6:30 on the morning of her death and got a bag out of the closet which contained a knife before sneaking out of his house.

He arrived at the Marceau house around seven and pulled the knife out, when her mother Tracey opened the door.

The New Zealand Herald reports Chand told police he then pushed past and kicked Christie down the stairs, and chased her through the house and out onto the deck when she got up and ran away.

He says once on the deck he stabbed her in the head and she fell, then he stabbed her another couple of times, before the knife became twisted and he couldn't use it anymore.
