Police make arrest following BoP caravan fire

By: Jacob Brown | Latest Crime News | Sunday September 30 2012 15:49

Bay of Plenty police are investigating the circumstances around a suspicious caravan fire and an uncooperative armed man in Mangakino last night.

The local fire brigade was called to an address in the town just before midnight.

Emergency services were confronted by an armed man who wouldn't let crews go into the property to fight the fire.

The caravan was completely destroyed.

The Rotorua Armed Offenders Squad were then called, and arrested a 63-year-old man without further incident.

He'll face firearms related charges in the Tokoroa District Court tomorrow.
