Police hunt continues for Gisborne gunman

| Latest Crime News | Monday October 29 2012 12:31

The police hunt continues in Gisborne for a gunman allegedly involved in a shooting incident in the city.

Warren Tarawa has been on the run from police since Friday after allegedly firing a shot at a house with two toddlers inside.

A bullet from the point-22 calibre rifle hit a parked car in the suburb of Mangapapa on Friday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Scott says the 33-year-old has family in the area and is likely to resurface to contact them.

He says searches over the weekend have been hampered by a lack of cooperation from Tarawa's associates.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the shooting will make a second court appearance today.

He's charged with being a party to the discharge of a firearm, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
