Tolley: $26m in assets seized since 2009

By: Katie Bradford-Crozier | Latest Crime News | Friday March 8 2013 15:45

Four boats, 85 luxury cars, 27 motorcycles and three lifestyle blocks are among the 322 assets taken by the Government from criminals since 2009.

Police Minister Anne Tolley says assets worth $26 million have been taken from criminals and gangs as a result of having to forfeit the proceeds of their crimes.

Most of the money, $21 million, has come from drug offenders.

Mrs Tolley says criminals are being hit where it hurts by legislation allowing the assets to be seized.
