Investigation into Timaru man's death underway

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Crime News | Friday May 11 2012 13:42

A police investigation into the death of a man in Timaru early this morning is under way.

Officers have secured part of York Street where a body was found at 4am.

Inspector Dave Gaskin says they have no idea how the man died.

"We've secured the scene and we're working through a number of enquiries to try and firstly ascertain who he is and then find out what he'd been up to that night and if there is in fact any criminality involved in his death."

Inspector Gaskin says police are door knocking to see if anyone has heard or seen anything.
