Crime ring busted - Gold, cash, cars, drug items seized

By: Lesley Deverall | Latest Crime News | Friday November 2 2012 15:01

Police have cracked an organised crime ring in Auckland, seizing half a million dollars in cash, a kilo of gold and four kilos of a major methamphetamine ingredient.

Five vehicles have also been nabbed in what Waitemata police have dubbed Operation Shiloh.

Eight men have been arrested on drugs charges, related to the manufacture and supply of methamphetamine - and investigations continue.

Acting Detective Inspector Stan Brown is pleased at the success his team's had, uncovering a group of people who had been living off the ill-gotten gains of drug manufacturing and dealing throughout the greater Auckland area.

A Clan Lab explosion in Glendene last December 2011 was the catalyst for the lengthy police investigation.
