New witness today in Gwaze trial

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Crime News | Thursday May 3 2012 8:03

A new witness today in the George Gwaze trial in the High Court at Christchurch.

The 60-year-old is charged with the murder and rape of his 10-year-old adopted daughter, Charlene Makaza at the Gwaze family home in Christchurch in 2007.

The Crown alleges George Gwaze smothered and sexually violated the girl, while the defence say she died from a rampant infection as a result of her HIV status.

Gwaze's daughter, who shared a room with Charlene Makaza, will give evidence this morning.
