Two appear in court over McMurdo death

| Latest Crime News | Monday August 20 2012 14:24

Two men have appeared in court charged with the murder of Helensville man Lee Ross McMurdo in July last year.

A 27-year-old West Auckland man with name suppression and Andrew Parry Nicholson, 24, face 19 charges between them including murder, theft of a car, supplying and conspiring to supply methamphetamine.

Victoria Anne Jackson, 21, also appeared in court jointly charged with the 27-year-old in relation to the alleged methamphetamine conspiracy and supply charges.

She did not face any charges specifically related to Mr McMurdo's murder and was remanded on bail.

The men were remanded in custody until their next appearance in two weeks.

They were arrested on Saturday after an intensive 13-month homicide investigation into Mr McMurdo's death.

Images of the men cannot be published due to a suppression order.

Their lawyers argued that if images were made public, the men's right to a fair trial could be affected.

The reasons for the suppression of the 27-year-old's name were also suppressed. The order will lapse at 11.30am tomorrow.
