The farmer whose deer were shot by Ewen Macdonald wants to see him serve his sentence in full. Macdonald has been sentenced to five years in jail on a series of charges at the High Court in Palmerston North. One of the offences was poaching deer from farmer Craig Hocken. Mr Hocken says if Macdonald only has to serve half of his sentence, it'll be a joke. "But it sort of says well you just go out and shoot a few people's stock and kill a few bloody animals and you get a slap over the wrist...and that's about it." Mr Hocken says Macdonald's actions cost him and other farmers who were affected, a lot of money. Photo: NZ Herald |
