Guilty plea after woman kicks puppy

Related

The SPCA says an Auckland woman should have thought twice before kicking her neighbour's puppy in the mouth while trying to get it off her property.

Kelly Leef has appeared in Manukau District Court today and pleaded guilty to ill-treating an animal.

Her kick broke the 14-week-old black Labrador puppy's jaw and led to her partner being assaulted by the dog's owner in retaliation.

SPCA Auckland CEO Christine Kalin says all this drama could have been avoided if she had simply taken a deep breath and talked to her neighbour to sort out the problem.
