Man guilty of murder with cricket bat

A 25-year-old Christchurch man has pleaded guilty to murdering his defacto step-father by bashing him with a cricket bat.

Christopher Gleeson appeared before a judge at a makeshift courtroom at the mens' prison this morning.

He murdered Kenneth Moore at a house in Waltham on January 6.

Judge Noel Walsh has remanded him in custody for sentencing on March 21.
