A 28-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of an intellectually disabled Upper Hutt woman.
Mary Donnelly was killed in her Ebdentown Street home last month.
Police last night arrested an Upper Hutt man after three weeks of investigating the 38-year-old's death.
Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thornton says Miss Donnelly was a well known Upper Hutt woman and a team of more than 20 investigators have been working on the case.
He says police are still working to establish all the facts surrounding Miss Donnelly's death and are focusing on the movements of a man seen at her flat on the day before her death.
Her alleged killer will appear in the Upper Hutt District Court this morning.
