Police investigating death arrest 17yo for assault

Police investigating the death of a man in Mt Wellington have arrested a 17-year-old and charged him with assault.

They say further charges are likely, pending the results of a post mortem conducted on the body of a man found lying in Hillside Road on Sunday night.

The arrested teen will appear in the Manukau District Court today.

Police have yet to identify the victim and want to hear from anyone who may know who he is.

He was wearing blue jeans held up with a piece of white electrical cable and a green jumper.

The Maori or Polynesian is thought to have been in his 20s to 30s, of average build and height and with short black hair.
