Gisborne police are investigating what's believed to be a gang related shooting late on ANZAC Day. Police say two shots were fired from a moving vehicle as it passed a private address around 6.30pm. Two people standing outside the address had to take evasive action to avoid being hit. Detective Sergeant Stephen Smith says the people in the vehicle appear to be Black Power associates. He says there are reports a similar vehicle was seen in the Kaiti, Riverdale and Elgin areas later that night, and further shots were fired. Police are keen to hear from anyone that may have seen a dark coloured station wagon or van involved in these incidents. Photo: NZ Herald |
