Teen's killer labelled a 'bully'

The family of Kapiti teenager Izak Millanta have labelled his killer a bully.

Manawanui Stewart has today been sentenced to six years behind bars for the manslaughter of the 17-year-old, as well as two other assault charges.

Outside court Mr Millanta's mother, Christine Wikaira described her heartbreak at losing her son, who she says was a bright light.

She says he would stand up against bullies, but they eventually beat him to death.

"My son stood up to bullies, continuously. They took his life at the end of the day."
