By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Crime News | Monday June 18 2012 15:21

Police are awaiting results of a scene examination and post-mortem after the death of a man in Paeroa today.

The man was found dead outside a pizza shop in the main town centre just after 6am.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Whitehead says they're working to formally identify the 57-year-old.

Locals say he's Jordan Voudouris, who owns Mykonos Pizza and Pasta.

Police say the man's death will be treated as suspicious until information proved otherwise.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out in Auckland tomorrow.

Mr Whitehead says it's obvious the victim's suffered trauma, but won't say what injuries he sustained or whether weapons were involved.

He says there have been other robberies in the area recently detectives have no leads as yet.

He's asking for the public's help.
