Man critical after violent assault

A man is in a critical condition after being attacked outside a shopping centre in Paraparaumu.

Police were called to the Coastlands mall carpark at about three o'clock this morning.

The man was taken to Wellington Hospital, and the mall is cordoned off while detectives investigate.
