Former principal accused of ripping off school

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Crime News | Saturday August 11 2012 13:33

A former principal and her husband have appeared in court after allegedly ripping a South Auckland school off to the tune of $27,000.

Colleen Margaret Gray is accused of using bogus invoices to steal the money from Mayfield Primary School between 2005 and 2009.

Her husband Bruce is facing five charges for issuing invoices for teaching work, which was never done.

Police say Colleen Gray was double-dipping by paying for carparking with a school credit card then claiming it back as personal costs.

They also allege the 64-year-old claimed personal purchases from restaurants, a florist and Mitre 10 as expenses.
