By: Sam Thompson | Business News | Tuesday May 1 2012 12:08

Salary and wages are on the rise with the latest figures showing a two percent increase in the year to March.

It includes a half a percent rise in the March quarter.

Statistics New Zealand says private sector salary and wage rates increased 2.1 percent in the year to the March 2012 quarter, compared with a 1.6 percent increase in the public sector.

It says while gross earnings continue to rise, paid hours and part-time employment have fallen for a few industries.
