Copper price reduced

By: Laura Heathcote | Business News | Friday May 4 2012 15:24

The Commerce Commission has issued a draft broadband pricing decision which could mean less price competition for internet users.

It's proposing to reduce the wholesale price of unbundled copper local loop service from its current average of $24.46 to a new average of $19.75.

The service allows Chorus' competitors to use its copper network, to provide their own services to customers.

The draft decision is now going out for consultation.
