Fisher & Paykel takeover gets Chinese clearance

The full takeover of iconic New Zealand whiteware producer Fisher & Paykel Appliances is a step closer.

Chinese company Haier has received clearance from Chinaâ s National Development and Reform Commission to proceed with its offer to acquire all the shares in Fisher & Paykel Appliances.

But the offer remains subject to other regulatory approvals, including the go ahead from the New Zealand Overseas Investment Office.
