Call for Reserve Bank to cut interest rates

| Business News | Thursday January 31 2013 6:52

There's a call for the Reserve Bank to cut interest rates.

A decision on the Official Case Rate will be made this morning.

The Green Party says there should be a cut to take the pressure off the exchange rate and protect jobs in the export and manufacturing sectors.

Co-leader Russel Norman says itâ s time for Reserve Bank Governor Graeme Wheeler to start fighting for New Zealandâ s productive economy.

He says if he decides to keep the OCR where it is, he's making an active decision to attack the productive sector in New Zealand.

The OCR has been 2.5 percent since March 2011.
