Labour's Trevor Mallard has renewed his call for John Banks to be stood down. Public opinion has turned against the Act leader, over the controversy about donations to his campaign for the Auckland mayor's job. Mr Mallard told TVNZ's Q&A programme John Key should stand his minister down - at least for the time being. "I had a leader who was an expert at doing this, she used to stand people down until the facts were sorted out, and then they either came back or they didn't. Otherwise you're going to have John Banks in parliament, asking questions. And remember, he is John Key's minister." Trevor Mallard says John Banks is reflecting the Prime Minister every time he stands up. Photo: NZ Herald |
