The man who killed Christie Marceau has been sentenced to three years for kidnapping her, two months before the killing.

Akshay Chand has also been sentenced to two years for threatening to rape her, and a year for threatening to cause her grievous bodily harm.

He was yesterday found not guilty of the teen's murder, by reason of insanity.

Chand will serve the sentence concurrently, while he is detained as a special patient in Auckland's Mason Clinic.
