By: Andy Rowe | Latest News | Saturday June 30 2012 21:20

The Hurricanes have handed the Crusaders their first loss in Christchurch this season, defeating the home side 23-22 at AMI Stadium.

Beauden Barrett nailed a penalty with five minutes to play to edge the visitors ahead.

Replacement Crusaders first five Tyler Bleyndaal attempted a long range penalty to win the match on fulltime, however it fell just short.

Conrad Smith scored the Hurricanes two tries, with Zac Guildford crossing for the Crusaders.

The Hurricanes lead 17-16 at halftime.
