Wonder by R.J. Palacio
RRP $24.99

Auggie is a nine year old boy, born with a rare facial disorder that makes him the ugliest kid in the world.  His parents decide that he should enrol into a regular school and this is the story of his first year in middle school and how he, and his classmates, adapt.

The story is told through the narrative voices of the central characters and those on the periphery of Auggie’s life.  He is a remarkable young man and this is a moving account of what it is like to be, and to love, a child who is very, very different.

It’s a novel for young adult and adult readers alike and is an outstanding debut for R. J. Palacio.
