Jesse Ryder's copping the blame for the Black Caps capitulation in the deciding Twenty/20 against South Africa at Eden Park.
New Zealand only needed 25 runs from the last five overs with six wickets in hand but came up three runs short after losing 4 for 21.
McMillan says Ryder was selfish when trying to get to 50, using up nine balls to get one run.
He says while others had opportunities, the reason New Zealand didn't win was because of Ryder's selfishness in trying to get to 50.
The two sides now head to Wellington for the opening one dayer on Saturday.
