No resolution in port dispute

By: Annabel Reid | Latest Auckland News | Friday February 10 2012 17:58

After five hours of mediation between the Ports of Auckland and the Maritime Union, a resolution is yet to be found.

The Maritime Union says it's yet to make a breakthrough with ports management, saying it went in with a proposal to find a constructive way forward.

President Garry Parsloe says no progress was made.

He says the company is refusing to come to a negotiated settlement and have continued with a "take it or leave it" approach.

Mr Parsloe says the arrogance of management towards the wellbeing of its workforce is staggering.

The port says the parties have agreed to further mediation, though adds the upcoming strikes have made setting a definitive date difficult.

The week-long strike by wharfies is planned for February 24.
