Fatal house fire in Canterbury

One person has died after a house fire near Christchurch.

The blaze broke out at 4am in a property in Domain Road, Oxford.

Four fire engines were sent to the scene.

Fire Service southern communications shift manager Brent Dunn says the house was well ablaze when fire fighters arrived.

Fire safety officers are at the house investigating the cause of the blaze.
