Two hospitalised after Ponsonby fire

Two people have been taken to hospital after a fire in central Auckland.

The blaze broke out around 3:30pm this morning in a block of Housing New Zealand flats in Bayard Street, Ponsonby.

One flat of the four flats was well alight when fire fighters arrived.

One person was taken to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition and another in a moderate condition.

A third person was treated at the flat.
