Service station fire treated as suspicious

By: Lesley Deverall | Latest Emergency News | Tuesday February 21 2012 15:20

Police are investigating the overnight fire which destroyed a Mangakino service station and are treating it as suspicious.

Detective Senior Sergeant Todd Pearce says the intensity of the 3am blaze extensively damaged the workshop and garage at Jas Kelly Motors on the corner of State Highway 30 and Waipapa Road.

It's the second time in seven months that service stations in the area have been destroyed by fire.

In July last year the Whakamaru Gasoline Alley service station was destroyed by a deliberately lit blaze.
