By: Jacqui Stanford | Latest Education News | Saturday February 4 2012 16:15

A young boy has critical injuries after a crash on State Highway One north of Wellington.

A truck is believed to have collided with two cars just south of Otaki, and ten people were involved.

Seven have been taken to hospital with injuries, including the young boy who was airlifted from the scene.

Ambulance spokesman Arthur Cronwright says the boy was in a car which was rear-ended.

He says the youngster is on a ventilator and the nature of his injuries are being assessed.

There are delays on State Highway One north of Wellington as a result of the crash.
