Parole denied in Choy murder case

By: Laura Heathcote | Latest Crime News | Tuesday February 21 2012 14:57

Parole has been denied for two of the offenders involved in the 2001 murder of pizza delivery worker Michael Choy.

Alexander Peihopa and Whatarangi Rawiri were two of six teenagers convicted of killing Mr Choy, after he was bashed to death with a baseball bat.

While parole has been declined for Rawiri, the Board says the 27-year-old is clearly on the right path, and is committed to working on aspects of her behaviour and attitude which she can change.

Peihopa, who wielded the bat which killed Mr Choy, is described as compliant, hard-working and well behaved.

The Parole Board says all augurs well for his future and he will again be considered for parole in August.
