Dotcom granted bail

By: Blair Cunningham | Latest Crime News | Wednesday February 22 2012 11:22

Internet mogul Kim Dotcom will be bailed.

A hearing had been held at the North Shore District Court this morning.

Megaupload's chief financial officer provided an affidavit in support of the bail application.

Dotcom's lawyer had wanted access to the internet to be reinstated.

However, the judge said he's not persuaded this would be a good idea.

Dotcom will be bailed to the Prom, which is a property adjoining his former mansion.

And he says all he wants to do is go home.

His three co-accused say they're happy Dotcom is able to go home.

Dotcom emerged from court after more than an hour waiting to be processed.

He's keen to go home to his pregnant wife and three young children.

This is how he described his treatment by police, while in custody.

"Well it felt a little bit like an audition to American Idol."

Kim Dotcom was whisked away by family in a black Toyota Hilux.
