EPMU disappointed by more Chch job losses

By: Anna Cross | Latest Business News | Friday February 3 2012 6:00

The EPMU is disappointed Christchurch is losing another 40 jobs at a time when the region's economy is struggling.

The warehouse jobs at Contract Logistics, a division of Express Couriers Limited, are moving north after the company lost a Postie Plus warehousing and distributing contract to an Auckland based firm.

Spokeswoman Anna Kenny says people need to stick with the city and work towards re-building it.

"For every job that you lose or every factory or organisation that leaves, there's less money going around the city to help with that rebuild and generate growth."

The job losses come just days after 36 staff at Christchurch's Sanitarium factory were made redundant because the building's tower block has been deemed unsafe.
